Ellee Oldfield
Loveland, Colorado, USA
Hello! My name is Eelje, but you can call me Ellee. I was born and raised in Ogden, UT, but moved out to Loveland, Colorado five years ago with my other half and our Pomeranian, Oreo (aka Foof-rir). I have spent the last seven years as a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a local children’s hospital and love every minute of it. Helping and healing are my passion.
I have been a practicing Heathen for the last seven years and have had the honor of working with heathens and pagans from around the world. Before coming to Awaken the North I had worked with a few different pagan organizations and spent a lot of time teaching on Norse mythology and rune work.
Awaken the North has been such an incredible addition to my life and faith, I want nothing more than to share my excitement and passion for this organization with as many people as I can. Please, feel free to reach out with anything I can be of assistance with. I’m here to support you!
Travis Golder
Garfield, Washington, USA
Hello, my name is Travis I live in Garfield, WA. I’m a Norse pagan and have been for over 5 years. I’m self-taught and I love to share my knowledge with others. If I don’t know the right information, I will do my best to find it for you.
Travis Flatt
Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
Hello! I am Trav, a lifelong student of mythology, with over thirty years of personal study having a slowly increasing emphasis in Norse mythology. My journey into the world of heathenry began as a young enthusiast, fascinated by the narratives and epic scope of the genre. My ancestral roots in the Orkney Islands have further driven my interest and connection to Nordic mythology, making this also a deeply personal path. After several years of solitary study and practice, I have increasingly become more comfortable with the idea of sharing and volunteering knowledge rather than simply accumulating it. I’ve appreciated the repository of lore and education provided by AtN and I have already made my way through a handful of courses with the budding thought of undertaking the Goði program. My professional background as a developer and cloud engineer has accumulated for me extensive experience in online communication and engagement, begun back in the early 90s when such things were still something of a fringe interest. It is my hope that this experience aligns well with AtN’s social media origins, online groups, and global outreach. I am passionate about becoming an Emissary because I believe in the importance of preserving and sharing the wonder of Norse mythology and Nordic Animism. My goal is to participate in a welcoming environment where others can learn and connect with ancient traditions and archetypes.
Kyle Kerby
Katy, Texas, USA
My name is Kerby, though people here call me by my super-duper alter ego, Skrufflez! My wife calls me an individualized individual. I’ve followed this path for the past four years or so. I’m also in recovery and have been clean since 7/6/21, for which I am very grateful! Comedy is central for me and I love to laugh and bring smiles and dry chuckles. I’m a native Texan, where our mecca is Buc-ee’s, Whataburger is our church and Dr. Pepper is given to us intravenously. I have run through the gauntlet of life with tenacity, grace, insanity, humility, and perseverance. I have walked through fears, found my identity and I’m starting to uncover who I truly am. Awaken the North has played a pretty big role in that and continues on a daily basis. With this community, I have learned many things about the gods and about the success that comes from being victorious in a realm of adversity.
Michael Doran
Ocala, Florida, USA
My name is Michael, and I’ve been on a Heathen journey for about four years now. I’ve deepened my understanding of Norse mythology and Viking history through formal studies, earning a certificate in the field. My passion for these subjects led me to create the SouthEast Norse Pagans Facebook group, which I founded and administer.
The group serves as a hub for Heathens in the southeastern region to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. We offer a variety of resources, including educational materials, event listings, and opportunities for spiritual growth. Our goal is to foster a supportive and inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
I’m committed to promoting the study and practice of Heathenry in the southeastern United States. Through Awaken the North and the SouthEast Norse Pagans group and my own personal efforts, I hope to contribute to the growth and vitality of our Heathen community.
Nic Bernstein
Round Lake Beach , Illinois, USA
Greetings, everyone. My name is Nic, and I’m a dedicated student of Norse paganism. I began my journey a little over three years ago, inspired by a popular TV show that sparked my curiosity about the old gods. While I grew up in a Catholic household, I never quite felt a deep connection to that faith. Norse paganism resonated with me on a profound level.
I’ve spent countless hours researching the history, mythology, and practices of Norse paganism. I’ve delved into the sagas, studied the Eddas, and connected with other practitioners online and in person. Through this journey, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the old gods, their symbolism, and their role in the lives of our ancestors.
I’m eager to become an emissary because I want to help others discover the rich traditions and spiritual practices of our ancestors. I believe that connecting with the old gods can bring meaning and purpose to people’s lives. By sharing my knowledge and experiences, I hope to foster a sense of community and belonging among those who are interested in Norse paganism.
I look forward to meeting others in my area who share a similar passion. Together, we can explore the depths of this ancient tradition and continue to honor the legacy of our Norse forefathers.
Colin Egan
Rockford, IL, USA
Greetings, everyone! My name is Colin, and I’ve been on a Heathen path for about five years now. I’m thrilled to serve as an emissary, as I’m passionate about supporting others in their Heathen journey and contributing to the vibrant community we’ve built.
I’ve always been drawn to the rich history and spiritual traditions of our ancestors. Heathenry has provided me with a deep sense of connection to the natural world and a framework for living a meaningful life. Through my own journey, I’ve learned the importance of community, mentorship, and shared experiences.
I’m eager to share my knowledge and experiences with others who are interested in exploring the Heathen path. Whether you’re just starting out or have been practicing for years, I believe we can all benefit from learning from one another and growing together.
I look forward to connecting with all of you and building a stronger, more inclusive Heathen community.
Curtis "Varyk" Walters
Independance, Missouri, USA
Greetings, everyone! My name is Curtis, and I live in Independence, Missouri, with my wife. We’re the proud parents of three amazing children: a 13-year-old and two younger ones: a 2 years old and 1 month old.
My Heathen journey began after I struggled to find the answers I was seeking within the Catholic church I was raised in. I started exploring other spiritual paths and discovered Heathenry, which resonated deeply with me. One of the aspects I appreciate most about Heathenry is that our gods don’t simply grant us our wishes; instead, they empower us to take action and create our own realities. I find this approach to be both inspiring and empowering.
I’ve been a Freemason for about a decade and am currently on track to become the Worshipful Master of my lodge next year. In addition to my Masonic involvement, my wife and I run our own business, Arcadian Cache. We’re also avid gamers and enjoy everything from Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer 40k to Marvel Crisis Protocol.
Bradly "Vémundr" Shelby
Miami, Oklahoma, USA
My name is Vémundr, and I have been a dedicated Heathen for over 13 years, with a strong focus on Norse reconstructionism. In that time I have had the privilege of leading large-scale events and rituals, hosting regional park moots, officiating Heathen marriages, and contributing written articles on a wide range of topics in Heathenry. My journey has been one of continuous learning and immersion in the lore, traditions, and practices that form the foundation of our faith. As a practitioner deeply committed to honoring our ancestral ways, my path has been shaped by a profound respect for the core values of frith, reciprocity, and kinship. These principles guide my practice, as I work to preserve and revitalize ancient customs in a way that is meaningful for today’s world. Whether through the crafting of rituals, building community events, or personal devotion, I strive to maintain the sacred connection to both land and ancestors. I believe that sharing these traditions is not only a responsibility but a vital part of ensuring the continued growth of our community. Becoming an Emissary allows me to extend that support to others on their own Heathen journeys, offering guidance, fostering strong connections, and nurturing a deeper understanding of our spiritual path. I am dedicated to keeping Heathenry alive and relevant, ensuring it remains accessible and welcoming for all who seek to walk the path of our forebears, with the same devotion to ancestral wisdom and community bonds.
